What's your advice for aspiring authors?
A writing career is a marathon, not a sprint.
Nowadays, there’s BIG pressure to start doing ALL THE THINGS (art commissions, SEs, ads, alt covers, PR boxes, courses, creating content, content, more content) even before you’re published.
Decide what you want your career to look like, and don’t brainwash yourself into doing stuff you don’t want to do because you’re “supposed to.”
You will burn out. So. Fast.
Don’t spend big money until your books are making money.
Be careful taking advice from people who are trying to sell you a course.
Stick to your principles.
Using generative AI will make your writing worse, and you’ll never understand why until you put in years of work learning the craft.
Most of all, just write and don’t put too much pressure on yourself too soon. Enjoy the time when no one knows or expects anything from you.
